Using an MCS registered installer is MANDATORY if you want to receive SEG payments ( Smart Export Guarantee) from your energy supplier this could add up to £thousands over the life of your system.

MCS membership means that the company meets the quality standards of competency / compliance and installation standards and only installs MCS approved products , this alongside membership of an Electrical regulatory body such as the NICEIC demonstrates electrical installation competence and that the company is insured for your peace of mind.

Both MCS and NICEIC require members to undergo yearly inspections to maintain their approved status.

There is a common misconception that Solar power does not work well within the UK as it’s often cloudy.

Solar panels convert light to energy they don’t need bright sunshine to function.

The average home uses 3500 kWh of energy per year, a well designed system of 10-12 high efficiency 440w solar panels is capable of producing that amount of power, combined with battery storage Solar PV is very effective in the UK.

In winter months or cloudier days you can charge your solar storage batteries using cheap overnight charging to use the next day instead of buying power at peak rates, some providers have charging rates at less than 1/3 of what you would pay at peak times giving great savings even on cloudy days.

We offer a system health check / repair service. An engineer will assess your system, test the components and advise on any replacements or upgrades required to have you back up and running.

In our opinion the relatively small increases in efficiency Microinverters provide and more detailed monitoring can be outweighed by the risk of a failed unit even within the warranty period.

Replacing a failed microinverter can easily exceed £1000 when the cost of access equipment and engineers fees are incurred.

During warranty the manufacturer will replace the unit free of charge some include a small payment for re-installation cost typically £80-120 (if anything at all).

We have seen many a techies initial enthusiasm with the detailed reporting disappear when presented with a bill for over £1000 to replace one microinverter knowing this one failure has cost more than all the efficiency savings so far and there are still multiple units at risk of future failures.

For this reason we recommend simpler more reliable bypass solutions for shading issues.

A recent change ( April 2024 ) implements strict safety measures for battery storage in homes the new requirements are complicated and expensive to implement therefore we recommend installing these system components on the exterior walls of your property (enclosures are available).

Many installers are either unaware or ignoring these requirements, we suggest you avoid these companies as you may be open to issues with your home insurance going forward with non compliant system’s.
